My name is Claudia Meydrech. I am a wife and mother of 2 teenage
children, and we live in a little log cabin on a lake in Northern
New Jersey.
My interest in herbs and their medicinal uses began about
eleven years ago after many trips to the doctor for myself
and for my children. It seemed that we were sick all
the time, and were taking antibiotics regularly. I reacted
badly to many antibiotics, or they just didn't work.
In my case, I know now that my immune system was weakened, and
my liver and gall bladder were problem areas. My first introduction
to ANYTHING alternative was a chiropractor who told me about a flush
to cleanse the liver and gall bladder. I was very skeptical, but
decided to try it, and it worked! It was this positive experience
that opened my eyes to the fact that alternatives to traditional
medicine work.
Not long after this experience, a friend was good enough to talk to
me about the possibility of using herbs to help with my health
problems, and again, I thought it all sounded a bit unusual, but
was desperate, so decided to give it a try. I began to use herbs
that build the immune system, cleanse the liver, and gradually began
to change my diet, avoiding processed foods, sugars, red meats,
carbonated beverages, etc. I was amazed at the results, and
developed a desire to learn more, and began to read as much as I
could.
After my positive experience, I decided to give my children
herbs. My daughter was on antibiotics almost monthly for ear
infections, and my son, his weak area was his digestive system.
I gave my daughter Echinacea & Golden Seal, and another liquid
herbal combination that acts as a natural decongestant. I used
garlic oil in her ears (despite the smell ) and after about
two more ear infections without antibiotics, only herbs, she
has been fine! She was 2 when we started, and now is 13.
For my son, I gave him Slippery Elm powder in apple sauce
to ease his diarrhea, Pau D'Arco (aka Taheebo) because of
it's anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral properties,
and acidophilus. Also gave him Echinacea and other immune
system builders. After he had been on his program for a while,
I received a call from his teacher just to tell me how amazed
she was at his increased energy and alertness!!
When anyone in the house is sick, the first inclination is not
to grab the phone and call the doctor, but to go to my many herb
bottles and find just the right thing to help the problem. I am
not foolish, though, and know there are times when we must go to
the doctor, but our medical bills are next to nothing compared to
what they used to be.
At present I am taking courses to be certified in nutritional
counseling, and have had a home business helping people discover
what herbs may be best for their needs for the past several years.
As beneficial as herbs are, be sure you speak to someone knowledgeable
in the use of herbs before trying just anything. Make sure you know
the quality control of the manufacturers of the herbs you purchase.
Please feel free to email - claudiascorner@gmail.com -
if you have any questions regarding the use of herbs, or need a good
source for high quality herbs.
